equipping youths with
entrepreneurial skills

GET currently focuses on equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills regardless of their gender or community of origin. Since its inception, GET has benefited immensely from selfless and voluntary contributions of many people and organizations

OUR HISTORY

The actual conception of GET may be traced back to the day that Dr Jessica Hamadziripi defended her International Relations Doctorate thesis titled “Poverty Eradication in Zimbabwe: Meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through home-grown business approaches”. Her thesis supervisor encouraged her to start an organization along the lines of the recommendations she advanced in the thesis. She was reluctant for she had not planned on taking this route. Nonetheless, in mid-2014 friends of hers, Andy and Rose, unaware of the suggestion from her supervisor, encouraged her to start an organization that could empower her citizens.

However, due to lack of training in human development, she did not contemplate venturing into such a territory. Her decision to start GET was ignited after she visited downtown Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe and saw youths loitering aimlessly. She felt she could not sit back and watch the youth struggling. Dr Hamadziripi was convinced that with good training, the youths could be profitably occupied through starting and operating sustainable businesses.

It Only Takes You!

GET was registered as a Non-Profit Trust in 2016 and training of youths started in February 2017 in Hatcliffe, Harare. GET currently focuses on equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills regardless of their gender or community of origin.

GENESIS ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRUST

Dr Hamadziripi then researched on how to train and empower the youth. When she realized that gaps existed in the education and industry sectors of Zimbabwe, she undertook training in youth development. Whilst she continued with the research, she registered GET. Armed with the training she was getting on youth development, combined with her desire to assist the youth and the encouragement from family and friends, she proceeded to establish Genesis Entrepreneurship Trust (GET).

Thus GET was registered as a non-profit Trust in 2016 and the training of youths started in February 2017 in Hatcliffe, Harare. GET currently focuses on equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills regardless of their gender or community of origin. Since its inception, GET has benefited immensely from selfless and voluntary contributions of many people and organizations.
